SVCOA Volunteer Respite Provider Training

SVCOA Respite Provider Training

The Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging's Respite Provider Training is a comprehensive four-week program designed to prepare volunteers to support caregiving families in their community. This training equips participants with the essential skills needed to provide compassionate care, companionship, and practical assistance to older Vermonters. Through a combination of interactive sessions, role-playing, and discussions, volunteers will learn effective communication techniques, the importance of good judgment, and how to create positive and supportive relationships with clients and their caregivers.

Offered in a flexible hybrid format, the training includes both online and in-person sessions at the SVCOA office in Rutland, making it accessible to a wide range of participants. Volunteers who complete the training will be well-prepared to make a significant difference in the lives of caregiving families, offering much-needed respite and enhancing the quality of life for those they serve. The program also emphasizes the importance of confidentiality and respecting client boundaries, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all involved.
